Decision Making mindset. Lean into data and reasoning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>What does everyone want? How will we make choices together?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to figure out what this is really about? First, recognize that this is a negotiation. Next determine what does everyone want? Then how will we make choices together?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do you want to be hugged? &#8211; How do we feel? Emotional mindset. Lean into stories and compassion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask questions -> creates vulnerability -> triggers emotional contagion -> elicits connection -> prompt more questions &#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a conflict, we learn why are fighting by discussing emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a conflict, we draw out emotions by proving we are listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a conflict, we prove we are listening by looping for understanding: ask questions, summarize what you heard, ask if you got it right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a conflict, focus in controlling:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yourself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The conflict boundaries<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Check mood and energy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do you want to be heard? &#8211; Who are we? Social mindset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We all posses social identities that shape how we speak and hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>how to talk about who we are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Draw out multiple identities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put everyone on equal footing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a new group by building on existing identities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Be aware of this loop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Telling someone they belong to a group they abhor -> triggers identity threat -> causes defensiveness -> prompts counter-attacks ->  leads to telling someone they belong to a group they abhor -> loop <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before discussion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What do you hope to accomplish?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How will this conversation start?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What obstacles might emerge?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When those obstacles appear, what&#8217;s the plan?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the benefits of this dialogue?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rules:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pay attention to what kind of conversation is occurring (above)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share your goals, and ask what others are seeking: prepare for the conversation. Ask many questions!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask about others&#8217; feelings, and share your own<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore if identities are important to this discussion.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The examples of &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Big_Bang_Theory\">The Big Bang Theory<\/a>&#8221; (how do you hear emotions no one says aloud?,) the court case, guns ownership, anti-vax, COVID, football team, netflix (no-rules), etc are really good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Very good ebook.
