So I wanted to give it a go one day. The ones I tried had spinach and cheese inside. I quick search showed me videos for arancini but with meat. It looks good but wanted to try the spinach version so I went a bit free style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the videos used as reference: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5aetYZDbQGo\">link1<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7VMNXTWozSs\">link2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ingredients for the rice balls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1 and 1\/2 cup of arborio\/paella rice<\/li><li>3 cups of boiling water<\/li><li>half onion chopped + splash of olive oil<\/li><li>pinch of sea salt<\/li><li>knob of butter<\/li><li>1 tsp of tumeric<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Fry the onion with the oil in a deep pan until soft<\/li><li>Add the rice and mix all together for a minute<\/li><li>Add the boiling water, salt, butter and tumeric<\/li><li>Cook at middle  temperature and stir often<\/li><li>Once all liquid is absorbed,  spread the rice in a tray to cool down.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ingredients for the filling<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>500g of washed spinachs<\/li><li>half onion chopped + splash of olive oil<\/li><li>1 garlic clove<\/li><li>splash of milk<\/li><li>1 big tsp flour<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Fry the onion with the olive oil until soft.<\/li><li>Add the garlic and fry until golden<\/li><li>Add the spinach. They will reduce quite a lot.<\/li><li>Stir often and once the spinach are like a paste, add the milk and flour<\/li><li>Remove from heat and let it cool down<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Frying the rice balls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2 eggs<\/li><li>Breadcrumbs<\/li><li>sunflower oil (never through olive in the sink please!)<\/li><li>Cheese<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Heat up a deep pan with the sunflower oil.<\/li><li>have a plate with the breadcrumbs and another with the mixed eggs<\/li><li>For making the balls, as per videos, wet your hands, make a decent ball, and make a hole with a finger.<\/li><li>Fill the hole with the cheese and spinach.<\/li><li>Cover the ball with a bit more rice and follow the technique to shape it like an egg<\/li><li>Pass the ball by the egg, then breadcrumbs and finally into the hot oil.<\/li><li>Fry until golden<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is my result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"825\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.thomarite.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-from-2020-06-05-00-07-11-1024x825.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.thomarite.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-from-2020-06-05-00-07-11-1024x825.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.thomarite.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-from-2020-06-05-00-07-11-300x242.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.thomarite.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-from-2020-06-05-00-07-11-768x619.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.thomarite.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-from-2020-06-05-00-07-11.png 1107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Veredict:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be honest, they look as I remembered but my spinach filling wasnt as great as the ones I tried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think I need to use mozarella cheese and add something else to the spinach mix (salt? nutmeg?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next time I will try to find the Arancini recipe with spinach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As usual, with practice, comes mastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Will try again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometime ago I tried these typical Italian rice bowls and like them.
